Wed, December 9AI-Native Applications & Product SystemsTrust, Security & Governance
Enterprise software has traditionally been built on deterministic behaviour. Financial systems, supply chains, customer platforms, and transactional workflows depend on predictable outcomes, where the same input consistently produces the same result.
AI introduces a different model. Large language models and other probabilistic systems bring uncertainty into environments that were not designed to accommodate it. When AI-generated decisions cross inappropriate architectural boundaries, the result can be inconsistent business behaviour, corrupted data, compliance failures, and reduced operational trust.
This session explores how AI can be introduced into enterprise systems without compromising the deterministic foundations on which those systems rely. Through practical scenarios and architectural examples, we will examine where probabilistic behaviour is appropriate, where deterministic guarantees must remain in place, and what happens when those boundaries become blurred.
Using Java and Jakarta EE as the implementation context, the session demonstrates practical patterns for containing AI uncertainty, including architectural separation, transactional boundaries, validation layers, approval workflows, and governance controls that prevent probabilistic behaviour from affecting business-critical operations.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework for deciding where AI should participate in enterprise workflows, where deterministic behaviour should be preserved, and how to design systems that combine intelligent capabilities with reliability, predictability, and operational integrity.
